While in Yangon for talks, Gambari met with Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the opposition National League for Democracy who is currently under house arrest in Yangon, a Western diplomat told CNN by phone without elaborating. Prior to the announcement it was not immediately clear whether Myanmar's secretive government would allow a visit to Suu Kyi, although the envoy has met with her before. | |
